2019 Project Highlights
Montana Department of Transportation incorporated major pedestrian and cycling safety improvements in a new Gibson Park entrance project. We provided $5,000 in matching funds for the project.
1,119 feet of new concrete trail was constructed in West Bank Park. the River’s Edge Trail Foundation funded matching grants to complete the project.
River’s Edge Trail Foundation funds helped fill in a gap in the sidewalk system to get to West Bank Park.
Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks installed a new stormwater drainage under the trail near the FWP Region 4 building. The project was funded by the Missouri-Madison River Fund
We hosted the Luminaria Walk in August, with more than 500 luminaria bags placed along the River’s Edge Trail. This is a free community event focused on celebrating the trail.
We installed a bike repair station on the trail. Funded by the River’s Edge Trail Foundation and SCHEELS. Great Falls Park and Rec installed the station.
On National Trails Day, we unveiled a new sculpture in West bank Park. C.M. Russell High graduate Kristian Madsen made the sculpture to honor Branch Brady, who was a star runner at Great Falls High School and longtime cross country coach at CMR.
This fall, a group of volunteers led by Chris Stieh of SCHEELS began exploring options for a single-track mountain bike flow trail on city property on the South Shore near Rainbow Dam. the proposed downhill trail would feature banked turns, rolling terrain, and jumps.
