2009 River’s Edge Trail Progress• New trail between Odd Fellows Park and the south side of Warden Park, including a new tunnel under Lower River Road and a new bike/pedestrian sidewalk on the new bridge over the BNSF line near the Water Plant. Construction is well underway. • New trail along 38th St. N., River Drive N. and Giant Springs Road between 8th Ave. N. and the existing trail near its tunnel under Giant Springs Road. Design has been completed by MDT and contractor selection is scheduled for early 2009. • New bike/pedestrian underpass of 6th St. SW along the Sun River. Design has been completed by MDT and contractor selection for early 2009 • West Bank Storm Drain Outfall Project which includes new piers for the trail bridge, outfall grading and new vegetation. Construction is progressing well. RTI added new composite deck planks to the bridge last month. • Bay Drive Trail Phase 1. After 5 years of delays BNSF has now provided an easement that will allow the trail between Garden Home Park and the Electric Co-op to move forward. The design has been completed for some time and it is hoped that the project can be bid in early 2009 and construction could begin after spring runoff. • Finalize the agreements and permitting to allow Bay Drive Trail Phase 2 between the Electric Co-op and new Federal Building to proceed to contractor bidding and construction next year. Project design is completed. • Securing new trail easements on both sides of the river. • Continue to work with Scouts, community service groups and individual volunteers to perform spring cleanup and assist with trail grooming, weed control, maintenance, tree planting and special projects throughout the year. |
